We’re looking forward to hosting you all at our International Luncheon on Friday, November 18th! You are invited to join us in our classroom at 11am for a special afternoon where we will gather together to celebrate an early Thanksgiving with our school families and enjoy dishes from the varying cultures that make up our little group. It would be wonderful if you could contribute a dish from your family’s ethnic background, if not a food of your choice would be greatly welcomed. The children brought home festive invitations to you on Thursday, and you should have received your RSVP slip in the “Musings on Monday” packet that went home last week. It is a lovely afternoon and we are genuinely excited to spend a few hours together enjoying good food and company. You are able to take your child home with you afterward if you wish. If there are any further questions please see me.
Parent/Teacher conferences are well under way and I have met with many of you. If you have not set an appointment with me as of yet, please do so within the next few days. All appointment slots for this week have been filled and I will need to see what can be scheduled for next week as I would really like to have all meetings finished by Thanksgiving recess.
Finally, we are wrapping up our “Fall Unit” this week. It has been a great deal of fun. We’ve played with leaves, pumpkins, feathers, experimented with different smells and textures. So many wonderful activities. This week we will begin talking about what Thanksgiving is all about. What does it mean to be “thankful”? This will bring us into our preparation for the feast on Friday and our final days next week finishing up with Pilgrims, Native Americans, turkeys and all the wonderful things that belong to the spirit of this holiday.
I hope you had an enjoyable three day weekend. Ms. Matilda and I will see you in the morning!
