Dear Parents,

This week, we started a new theme: Transportation! The children had lots of fun learning about different types of transportation. We talked about the types of they already were familiar with, and then they learned about new forms. They told their classmates about the kind of transportation they use to come to school every day, and discussed what they were making for their transportation project. In Math, they were introduced to Mr. Mixup, a puppet that often makes Math mistakes. Mr. Mix-up starts counting, and when he makes a mistake the childrenstop and correct him. Another game they played this week was Dinosaur Shop, where they worked in pairs to sort and count dinosaurs. First, they sorted dinosaurs onto plates and then they counted the dinosaurs to tell how many there were on each plate. Also they played the game using toy vehicles which they sorted and counted. They either sorted them by color or type.

Here is what is happening coming up:

Please take note that we will be closed Monday, January 21, 2019 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
Students are now accomplished in taking off their jackets and placing them in the big clear bags along with their backpacks. Now, please make sure they know how to put on, take off, and zipper their own jackets. Please work with them at home to learn this very important skill. If they have lunch boxes, please let them place them in the top part of their cubby. These are two skills of “autonomy” that they will have to do completely on their own in kindergarten. Also, as always, please remind them to sign their names on the chart and move their name sticks before going to wash their hands.
Our Transportation Project is due tomorrow, Monday, January 14, 2019. We are excited about seeing what everyone has made.
Have a great rest of the weekend, see you tomorrow !

Ms. Francesca
