Dear Students Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to a new school year at Astoria Lutheran.  My name is Ms. Sherry Hughes-Costanzo and I will be the fourth grade homeroom and primary teacher. I am excited about the new school year and working together with all of you.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you about myself and discuss what will be expected of you and your child this school year.

The atmosphere of my classroom is designed to encourage students to explore their academic interests and feel comfortable and confident sharing their opinions, knowledge and experiences with others.
Homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday.  All homework must  be completed on time.  If, for any reason there is a problem with the completion of your childs homework, please send me a note letting me know and I will review the lesson before continuing.

Any homework not completed will be assigned over the weekend or during the childs free time, so please make sure your son/daughter keeps up with his/her homework assignments.

Reports and Projects will be assigned throughout the school year.  Most of them will be done in class but, one or two may be assigned to be done or completed at home. Quite often I will ask students to gather their information at home, (with your help) and bring it to class so we can work on it together.
Tests, quizzes, projects and reports will be given in class to assess your childs progress.  All information about tests and quizzes will be written in your childs assignment notebook.

Please feel free to call the office or send me an email if you need to contact me.   I will get back to you as soon as I can. The schools email address is info@astorialutheranschool.com

Parent Information Night (PIN) will take place on Wednesday, September 18 @ 6:15 in the evening.  I am looking forward to seeing all of you there.
