Astoria Lutheran School e-Bulletin 11/18/19

PREPARING YOUR CHILD FOR KINDERGARTEN: Thank you to all who participated this past Wednesday! It was a very important event to highlight our Kindergarten program and how we prepare students in PKA for entering Kindergarten. For PKA parents and guardians, if you are interested in our Kindergarten program for 2020, you are welcome to come every “Visiting Thursday” in the mornings. Please call or see Ms. Louisa to schedule a time.

KINDNESS COUNTS: Thank you to Mrs. Kump, Head of Sunday School for sharing a recent article in The Atlantic that discusses the substantial decline in kindness and empathy over the years. “Parents are supposed to leave a legacy for the next generation, but we are at risk of failing to pass down the key virtue of kindness. How can we do better?” ask the writers. “As we’ve seen, overemphasizing individual achievement may cause a deficit of caring. But we don’t actually have to choose between the two. In fact, teaching children to care about others might be the best way to prepare them for a successful and fulfilling life.”
