WELL DONE AT ASSEMBLY! Congratulations to all of you who presented your work. Everyone’s projects showed a tremendous amount of effort. Project Based Learning is a unique opportunity offered in this school that encourages collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication and leadership. Keep up the good work!

PICTURE DAY: Tuesday, October 15th. Please return all picture day forms to Ms. Louisa no later October 15th.

MID-TERM PROGRESS REPORTS: The mid-term reports will be distributed on Wednesday, October 16th.

OCTOBERFESTIVAL IS COMING! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19th from Noon-5:00 p.m. This year’s event will be in the fashion of a street fair, with each class/grade/organization hosting a different booth, with food, drink, music, games, and fun. There will be special attractions for children. Please see Ms. Louisa if you are able to volunteer to help for set-up, during the event or for clean-up. Your Home Room teachers will also be looking for volunteers to help for your class booth!

HERSHEY CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER: Please see Ms. Louisa. Boxes cost $60. Each box sold benefits our school. Top seller will get a $50 VISA gift card.

CLUB AND LUNCH FORMS: Will be distributed on Tuesday, the 15th October.

CONFIRMATION CLASS: Open to 7th grade students every Wednesday 2:45 p.m. in the Blue Room with Pastor James.

8th GRADE HIGH SCHOOL APPLICATIONS: The application process continues on the myschools.nyc website. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Chris Chin-Sinn, 7/8 Home Room or Ms. Costanzo, TACHS coordinator.

TACO TUESDAY IS COMING OCTOBER 29TH! Please submit your order forms to Ms. Louisa.

TUITION PAYMENTS: Please hand in all tuition payments into the ‘mailbox’ located outside Ms. Louisa’s office.  Any questions please email finance@astorialutheranschool.com

AFTER SCHOOL PICK-UP: K-8 after school, please pick up in the Blue Room after 4:00 p.m. PreK after school, please ring the bell by the Church entrance.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: We have many children from our school attending Sunday School!  Children’s church is every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. After that children ages 3-10 attend classes based on the message in church and the service continues with adult church until 11:10 a.m. Refreshments follow in the Blue Room. Come and visit us and hear our choir as well! Children’s Choir sings on October 27th! Come here your fellow students in the choir.

MISSION DONATIONS – In October we are collecting money and food to aid the victims of recent hurricanes. Each month we will have a specific food donation. This month we are asking for donations of pasta or other non-perishable foods. Grade school children can bring their donations to chapel on Wednesdays.

DID I FORGET TO MENTION NO SCHOOL MONDAY? School will be closed on Monday, October 14th in observance of Columbus Day. Enjoy the 3-day weekend!PS:
