Astoria Lutheran School e-Bulletin 10/21/19

OCTOBERFESTIVAL IS COMING! SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19th from Noon-5:00 p.m. This year’s event will be in the fashion of a street fair, with each class/grade/organization hosting a different booth, with food, drink, music, games, and fun. There will be special attractions for children. Please see Ms. Louisa if you are able to volunteer to help for set-up, during the event or for clean-up.

TERRA NOVA TESTING MONDAY, OCTOBER 21st THROUGH THURSDAY OCTOBER 24th: Every year students in 2nd – 8th grade take the Terra Nova test. Students are familiar with the tests and we spread them over 4 days during the morning session. The Terra Nova scores indicate how well your child is doing in relation to students across the country. Please let me know if you have any further questions regarding the test.

MIDLAND FUNDRAISING starts next week. You should have your brochures no later than Friday. Get ahead of your Christmas shopping!

K-8 GRADE SCHOOL CLOSED FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25TH FOR PROFESSIONAL DAY.  PREK-3 and PKA Classes as normal.

TACO TUESDAY IS COMING OCTOBER 29TH! Please submit your order forms to Ms. Louisa.

8th GRADE HIGH SCHOOL APPLICATIONS: The application process continues on the myschools.nyc website. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Chris Chin-Sinn, 7/8 Home Room or Ms. Costanzo, TACHS coordinator.

TUITION PAYMENTS: Please hand in all tuition payments into the ‘mailbox’ located outside Ms. Louisa’s office.  Any questions please email finance@astorialutheranschool.com

AFTER SCHOOL PICK-UP: K-8 after school, please pick up in the Blue Room after 4:00 p.m. PreK after school, please ring the bell by the Church entrance.

SUNDAY SCHOOL: Children’s church is every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. After that children ages 3-10 attend classes based on the message in church and the service continues with adult church until 11:10 a.m. Children’s Choir sings on October 27th!

MISSION DONATIONS – In October we are collecting money and food to aid the victims of recent hurricanes. This month we are asking for donations of pasta or other non-perishable foods. Grade school children can bring their donations to chapel on Wednesdays.
