Hello everyone! The last few mushers are still on the Iditarod trail to Nome. It has been an exciting few weeks following the human and canine athletes as they participated in the “Last Great Race on Earth”. We researched background information, checked progress day by day, and learned to read several types of graphs and charts. Our handmade sleds, dogs, and mushers will be on display on the windowsills in the main floor hallway.

This week we will read a fiction story titled, “Click, Clack, Moo : Cows That Type”. Determining cause and effect is the target skill associated with this story. Spelling will focus on open syllables, while grammar will involve writing book titles correctly. Math lessons will conclude the unit on measuring in inches, feet, and yards. We will then move on to the metric units of centimeters and meters. Handwriting will involve writing phrases with all the lower case letters. Religion will focus on the parables of Jesus . On Monday, I will present a lesson about the responsibilities of a citizen in our country–specifically, explaining about jury duty.

Have a great week. Hope to see many of you at Springfest next Sunday!
